And music makes the world go ‘round, doesn’t it?
Ditch Records
Best known for its seriously expansive selection of titles, Ditch Records is the city’s largest locally owned record store. The shop boasts both new and used vinyl and CDs, in genres ranging from jazz, blues, and classical to hip-hop, metal and country. Their doors are now open to customers Monday through Sunday.
The Turntable
Located in the historic and ever-so-cool Fan Tan Alley, the Turntable has been a landmark of Victoria’s music scene for nearly 30 years and a go-to resource for audiophiles. The shop carries plenty of styles with a high turnover of stock (there’s always new stuff in store) in vinyl, CD, and cassette tape. Make sure to check out their great selection of music memorabilia, too!
Vinyl Envy
This independent vinyl record store also doubles as an all-ages live music venue, with an emphasis on celebrating local talent. Support these guys by perusing through their selection of new and used vinyl (they boast more than 10,000 LPs) that spotlights plenty of Vancouver Island-based artists in genres including indie rock, folk, electronic, soul, and hip-hop.
