There are some huge shows coming to Victoria this spring! Don’t miss out on these fantastic performances.
JIM GAFFIGAN
Jim Gaffigan is one of the funniest people on the planet. The star of The Jim Gaffigan Show with countless TV appearances, two best-selling books, nearly a dozen comedy albums and specials under his belt, Gaffigan brings a unique wit and killer stage presence to his shows across the world. His material involves fatherhood, food and the idiosyncracies of everyday life.
In the hands of less talented comedians, the kinds of jokes that Jim Gaffigan tells about his family could seem mean-spirited but because he is a loving and devoted father and actually writes with his wife, Jeannie, Gaffigan’s comedy is uplifting. He’s absolutely hilarious and you don’t want to miss him on his Quality Time tour at Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre April 12.
METRIC AND JULY TALK
When Canadian music was the coolest thing around in the mid-2000s, Metric were the coolest of the cool. Emily Haines’ disaffected vocals conjured the best of Debbie Harry and her band provide the kind of angular art-rock you could dance to that made Talking Heads household names. They absolutely rocked, and they STILL rock. They will be playing Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre on April 17 with special guests July Talk, an indie band from Toronto that sound like if Tom Waits released a disco album. It’s going to be massive.
RAFFI
Vancouver Island’s own Raffi is one of the best-beloved children’s performers of all time. Known for instant classics like “Bananaphone,” “Down By The Bay” and “Shake My Sillies Out,” seeing Raffi with your kids is one of the best concert experiences you could possibly have. See him at the Victoria Royal Theatre on April 14!
