Victoria transforms in fall, taking on all the golden hues of autumn and shining even more brightly in the sun reflecting off the water of the harbour. BC’s capital is truly stunning in October. Here are some of the best way to enjoy it!
FALL CORN MAZE
There’s nothing so quintessentially autumn as a corn maze, and North Saanich’s Pendray Farms, a short drive from downtown Victoria has a great one. Come get lost in the crispness of the air and all the fall sights and smells. Open every Thursday through Sunday (and holiday Mondays) in October, this is wonderful way to get out with the family and tramp through the mud. Remember to bring your rubber boots and a flashlight if you’re coming later in the day!
And once if you’ve found your way out of the maze, enjoy a tour of the Pendray Dairy Farm and a delicious hot chocolate.
GOLDSTREAM RAILWAY TRESTLE
One of Victoria’s most popular hikes is to go from the day-use area of Goldstream Provincial Park to the railway trestle bridge located deeper in the forest. While it isn’t recommended that you actually walk ON the bridge (it’s quite dangerous, and qualifies as trespassing!) but this is a tour of some of the most gorgeous locales on the island! See Niagara Falls (okay, not THE Niagara Falls), and all the beautiful colours of Goldstream Park as they come alive this fall! This is a 2 hour hike for experienced hikers, but absolutely worth it.
BEACON HILL PARK
Victoria is blessed to have the gorgeous Beacon Hill park just a short walk from downtown, and in fall the Japanese Maple trees that pepper the terrain of this gem turn a vivid scarlet! It’s truly magnificent, and one of the reasons we live here. You have to check it out!
